WELLNESS Treatments
Find the Right Treatment for Your Symptoms, Health & Goals
You know something doesn't feel right — but you may not know where to start.
Maybe your jaw is constantly tight or sore. You wake up tired even after a full night of sleep. You snore, mouth breathe, struggle with focus or mental clarity, feel anxious about dental treatment, or live with muscle tension and discomfort that keeps coming back.
At Prairie Village Dentists, we look beyond individual symptoms to consider how your oral health, airway, sleep, muscles, movement, and overall wellness may be connected.
You don't need to figure out which treatment you need before you come in. Start by telling us what you're experiencing and what you'd like to improve. We'll help determine the most appropriate place to begin.

OUR WELLNESS TREATMENTS

TMJ & Jaw Pain
EMFACE® Functional TMJ
Best known for: Jaw Comfort + Muscle Function + Mobility
TMJ/TMD can involve the jaw joints, muscles, and surrounding structures and may contribute to jaw pain, facial soreness, muscle tension, limited movement, clenching- or grinding-related discomfort, and other symptoms.
EMFACE® Functional TMJ provides a non-invasive treatment option that uses synchronized radiofrequency and HIFES® muscle stimulation to address the muscular component of TMJ dysfunction.
Depending on your symptoms, TMJ care may also involve physical therapy or evaluation of other contributing factors.
Best known for: Mood + Focus + Mental Wellness
EXOMIND® is a non-invasive transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) treatment that uses targeted magnetic stimulation to influence areas of the brain involved in mood, cognitive function, emotional regulation, and self-control.
Depending on the individual, EXOMIND® may be incorporated into care for concerns involving depression, anxiety, mental clarity, focus, dental anxiety, and certain behavioral or habitual concerns.

Physical Therapy
Personalized Movement & Functional Care
Best known for: Move + Function + Feel Better
Physical therapy focuses on reducing pain, improving mobility, restoring function, and addressing muscular and movement-related factors that may be contributing to your symptoms.
Our physical therapist has a particular focus on TMJ/TMD and the interconnected muscles of the jaw, face, head, neck, and shoulders, while also providing physical therapy for musculoskeletal concerns throughout the body.

Sleep & Airway Health
Airway-Focused Care
Best known for: Breathe + Sleep + Function
The mouth, tongue, jaws, nasal airway, breathing patterns, and sleep are closely connected.
Our airway-focused approach looks beyond the teeth to identify oral, anatomical, and functional signs that may warrant a closer look at how you breathe and sleep.
Depending on your individual needs, care may include at-home sleep screening, nasal hygiene instruction, orofacial myofunctional therapy, expansive clear aligner treatment, a custom oral appliance/snore guard, or collaboration with another healthcare provider.
What Are You Experiencing?

Jaw pain isn't always just about the joint. Muscles, movement, clenching and grinding, posture, sleep, airway, and other factors may all play a role.
Our approach to TMJ/TMD looks at the bigger picture to help identify potential contributors to your symptoms and determine which treatment options may be appropriate.
How you breathe while you sleep can affect much more than whether you snore.
If you regularly wake up tired, breathe through your mouth, struggle to breathe comfortably through your nose, wake with a dry mouth, experience brain fog, or simply don't feel restored after sleeping, it may be worth taking a closer look at your sleep and airway health.Explore Sleep & Airway Health

Mental wellness can affect how we feel, function, sleep, make decisions, and care for ourselves.
EXOMIND® offers non-invasive brain stimulation designed to target areas of the brain involved in mood, cognitive function, emotional regulation, and self-control.Explore Mental Wellness & Brain Health

Pain and dysfunction don't always stay confined to one part of the body.
Our physical therapist provides individualized care for TMJ-related concerns as well as musculoskeletal pain, muscle tension, mobility limitations, weakness, injuries, posture, and other movement-related concerns throughout the body.Explore Physical Therapy

Frequently asked questions
Your Symptoms May Be More Connected Than You Think
Wellness doesn't always fit neatly into one category.
Jaw tension may exist alongside neck and shoulder pain. Clenching and grinding may warrant a closer look at sleep and breathing. Poor-quality sleep may show up as fatigue or difficulty concentrating. Stress and anxiety can influence how we feel physically and how comfortable we are receiving dental care.
That's why we don't expect you to diagnose yourself or choose a treatment from a menu. Our goal is to understand what you're experiencing, how it's affecting your life, and what factors may be contributing to it so we can help determine an appropriate next step.
Sometimes that means one type of treatment. Sometimes it means looking at the concern from more than one angle. And sometimes the appropriate next step is evaluation or collaboration with another healthcare provider.
Because your mouth doesn't exist separately from the rest of your body.
Dentists routinely evaluate the teeth, jaws, tongue, palate, facial muscles, bite, and surrounding head and neck structures. These areas can provide important clues about much more than cavities.
Jaw pain, clenching and grinding, mouth breathing, dry mouth, limited tongue space, muscle tension, sleep concerns, dental anxiety, and certain health behaviors can all intersect with oral health.
Our wellness approach allows us to look beyond individual teeth and consider the broader factors that may be affecting your comfort, function, sleep, breathing, oral health, and quality of life.
When something falls outside our scope, we collaborate with or refer to the appropriate healthcare provider.
Why Wellness Care at a Dental Office?

That's completely okay.
You don't need to know whether your symptoms are coming from your jaw, muscles, airway, sleep, or something else before reaching out.
You also don't need to know whether you need EMFACE® Functional TMJ, EXOMIND®, physical therapy, airway treatment, or another type of care.
Tell us what you're experiencing.
We'll help you figure out the appropriate place to start.
