Crowns & Fillings
When a tooth is damaged or decayed, dental restorations bring back function. After removing bacteria and cleaning the area, filling material is used to restore the tooth. Depending on the degree of damage, your Prairie Village, KS dentist may use fillings, inlays/onlays or dental crowns.
Crowns
Same-Day Crowns with Glidewell IO™ In-Office Milling
At Prairie Village Dentists, we love combining great dentistry with great technology to make your visits easier and more comfortable. One of the ways we do that is through our digital same-day crown workflow, which allows many restorations to be completed in a single visit.
How Our Digital Technology Works

Precision Starts with Digital Scans
Using quick, comfortable digital scans, your crown is uniquely designed to fit your bite and blend naturally with the surrounding teeth. We take time to make sure it looks and feels just right.

Finding Your Perfect Match
A small ceramic block is carefully selected to match your natural tooth color, then placed into our in-office mill. From this tiny starting point, your custom crown begins to take shape.

Watch Your Crown Come To Life
Our Glidewell IO™ in-office milling system carefully creates your custom ceramic crown right here at Prairie Village Dentists.

Finished and Placed - Often the Same Day
Once your crown is ready, we check the fit, polish it, and securely place it — often during the same appointment.
Our Glidewell IO™ milling system allows us to design and create many crowns right here in the office while you’re still here. That means a more streamlined experience and fewer disruptions to your schedule.
Patients love this technology because it often means:
-
No temporary crown to worry about
-
Fewer appointments and less time away from work or family
-
Beautiful, natural-looking ceramic restorations
-
Precise digital design for a comfortable fit
Technology helps us work more efficiently, but the most important part is still the same: thoughtful, personalized care from your dentist and team.
Our goal is always to create restorations that look natural, feel comfortable, and support your long-term dental health — with a little less waiting along the way.
Modern technology. Thoughtful dentistry. And a team that loves seeing you smile!

Fillings
Fillings are one of the most commonly performed procedures in dentistry. Fillings “fill” the space in a tooth after decay is removed. Dr. Smith uses tooth-colored materials to fill cavities. The best type of material depends on your needs and preferences.
Composite Resin
Composite Resin fillings match the color of natural enamel, so they are “invisible.” These provide the best aesthetics and are ideal for restoring teeth that show when you smile, but they can also be used for the back teeth.
Glass Ionomer
Glass ionomer is a tooth-colored material similar to resin that bonds chemically to the tooth’s surface. It is recommended for the front teeth or teeth that are not exposed to heavy biting forces. Glass ionomer is an alternative for people who don’t want plastic in their mouths.
