I rescued the most adorable 2-year-old female Chihuahua/Miniature Pinscher mix last August. She is the first dog I’ve had as an adult.
The shelter told me she came from the floods in Texas and had been in a hoarding situation. They knew nothing else about her. She’s brown, so she was given the name “Brownie”.
When I got her home, I named her “Piper,” swearing I would NEVER call her “Pipes,” but I do.
Since this was my first experience as a pet owner, I was totally overwhelmed at first, but I overcame that feeling and have fallen totally in love with her.
She was scared of everybody and everything at first, but I have been socializing her as much as possible, and her progress has been amazing.
I can’t believe I went all these years without this completely unconditional love I get from her and the joy I have in my heart now.
They say when you rescue a dog, you save their life… I say Piper saved mine!
